Biddeford High School’s gymnasium, originally built in 1961, had served students and the community for over five decades before a transformative renovation brought it fully into the 21st century. As part of a two-year comprehensive school renovation completed around 2012, the facility underwent a “like-new” overhaul — a landmark investment in both education and community infrastructure.
With MAXAM Telescopic Bleacher featuring CourtSide seats and the added wow factor of the Total Graphics Package – the renovated “Tiger Gym” has become a cornerstone of both school spirit and community life in Biddeford. The MAXAM telescopic seating system provides excellent flexibility — retracting to open the floor for athletic competitions and extending to offer comfortable, branded seating for packed school events. Since November 4, 2014, the gymnasium has also proudly served as the primary polling location for city elections, demonstrating how the thoughtfully designed space extends its value far beyond the school day.
The Biddeford High School project stands as a testament to how the right seating solution can transform a gymnasium into a true multi-purpose community hub — one built to serve students, athletes, and citizens for decades to come.
Hussey Seating, through dealer Robert H. Lord Co., delivered a state-of-the-art MAXAM Telescopic Bleacher system featuring:
- CourtSide Seats for enhanced spectator comfort
- Total Graphics Package for a bold, school-branded aesthetic aligned with the “Tiger Gym” identity
- A fully retractable design enabling seamless transformation of the space for athletics, assemblies, and civic events
