The Future of Gymnasiums?

Gymnasiums for schools and colleges are one of the core markets for Hussey Seating. We are the industry leader in market share for telescopic seating, and we have been supplying product to gyms for over 60 years. We have a lot of expertise in layouts, courtlines, sightlines, ADA codes, and more, and we apply this expertise every day. We get to see, and collaborate on, the latest gym designs from all over the country, and indeed all over the world. One of the real values we bring are "best practices", sharing what's being done in different geographies.

I guess it's a blizzard

We have about 30" of snow at my house, and it's blowing and drifting to some BIG piles. We live on a tidal marsh, and the 13-foot storm tide had us nervous, but it is hanging just at the edge of my yard. We have not lost electrical power, and I am now optimistic we will get through without a loss (I hope I didn't just jinx myself). Travel is hazardous they say - even some snow plows went off the road this morning - so we are staying put. I am about to fire up my snowblower and make sure we can get out!

Biz ain't bad...

As more than half our business is centered around K-12 school facilities, the news headlines continue to be grim. Voters aren't approving bond issues, states have no money for new construction, and in fact Dodge / McGraw-Hill shows school construction down 17% in the first quarter of 2012, compared to 2011. And this is is after four straight years of significant declines. The fact is, there are a lot fewer facilities needing new seating...
