Hussey Seating Company has a long history of supporting the United Way of York County, in all of the three key "T's" of charitable giving – time, talent and treasure. Multiple generations of Hussey family members and management have served as Board members, and Hussey Seating Company was the first in York County to establish a matching corporate gift to complement employee donations, a tradition that continues to this day.
While we're certainly proud of the Hussey corporate and family commitment to this worthy cause, we're even prouder of the strong support our employees have shown for their communities over the years. And 2010 is no exception!
Despite the challenging economic climate (or perhaps because of it!), our employees stepped up to the challenge, increasing the overall contribution from Hussey Seating by 9% over our 2009 campaign, and increasing employee participation from a robust 89% to a very impressive 90%
This commitment to support our less fortunate friends and neighbors has been a hallmark of our employees over the years, but that spirit of caring is focused and energized each year by the hard work of our United Way Committee. Committee members Terry Breton, Fred Turnbull, Tebetha McWhirk, Janet Roussin, Phil Turnbull, Victoria Bradburn, Stacey Anderson, Marilyn Fraser and Rene' Hokinson poured energy, enthusiasm and creativity into this year's campaign, increasing our "Special Events" campaign revenue by a stunning 49%, a key driver in exceeding last year's campaign total.
I always cite the quality of our employees as one of the critical factors is our success, and their commitment to this worthy cause only confirms that assessment once again. And to all of you on the United Way Committee, I offer a personal word of thanks for your efforts to help build our communities. You truly do Live United!
